Preview Evening: At Home with Elgar
The Mill House, Fittleworth A special introduction to the Brinkwells music, with a talk by Dr Steven Halls, Chairman of The Elgar Society and The Elgar Complete Edition, and a round-table discussion, interspersed with live performances of some of Elgar's exquisite 'salon' works - his only other extant chamber music. Elgar's Tenth Muse St Mary's Church, Fittleworth A wonderful chance to see this beautiful film (directed by Fittleworth resident, Paul Yule) set in 1919, about Elgar's brief intoxication with violinist, Jelly d'Aranyi. Concert 2: Weird Trees and Windflowers
Leconfield Hall, Petworth Elgar's 'bold and vigorous' Violin Sonata (the first thing he completed at Brinkwells), paired with the magnificent Piano Quintet. Pre-performance talk by distinguished Elgarian Adrian Brown and displays about Elgar and his music. Refreshment bar. |
